The generational succession in Polykemi Group is here

At the turn of the year 2025/2026, the family-owned Polykemi Group completed its long-planned generational transition. The founder’s sons, Ola Hugoson and Lars Hugosson, have now passed the torch to the next generation.

Transition preparation phase complete

For the past seven years, the owning family of Polykemi Group has dedicated significant time to prepare thoroughly for the coming generational succession. The goal has always been to make the transition as efficient and seamless as possible for the business.

The announcement of the generational shift on April 25th 2025 was a huge milestone for the whole family. Since then, work has focused on preparatory meetings, mapping of daily routines and further decisions on details regarding management within the management team at the headquarters in Ystad.

Organizational changes after 30 years

As a result of these processes, Oscar Hugoson is now CEO Global, Herman Hugosson is CEO Sweden, and Gustav Hugoson serves as Deputy CEO. They will manage the Polykemi Group together, as a team of three, with the committed support from Johan Hugoson, who continues in his role as CEO North America, and Vendela Hugosson, who has chosen to remain in her position in the Procurement department.

Ola Hugoson has thereby now handed over his leadership to his successors, after almost 30 years as Managing Director at Polykemi Group, just like his father Hugo Jönsson before him. Ola will continue within the company as Senior Advisor, supporting the third generation and the entire Polykemi Group by sharing his 40 years of experience. Lars Hugosson remains active as Senior Advisor, continuing his current work as a vital bridge between departments, with supporting guidance and extensive day-to-day operational knowledge.

Towards the future

While the succession is now complete, the work is far from over. Looking ahead, the third generation is committed to continuing the successful journey of the Polykemi Group. Thanks to the strong foundation built by Ola Hugoson and Lars Hugosson, the next generation is well prepared to take the lead with trust, clarity, and a shared goal.
