A new era of environmental data at Elmia Subcontractor
Updated: 18 hours ago
When Polykemi and Rondo Plast exhibit at Elmia Subcontractor, we will put extra focus on the next step in verified environmental data. With our new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), it becomes easier to access and compare information about the environmental impact of different materials. We will also highlight our latest material developments created to meet new ELV requirements.

From complex environmental data to clearer decision-making
What is the environmental impact of a product, and how can it be assessed reliably? An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) provides quantified environmental information about a product throughout its life cycle, based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The information is presented according to established rules and independently verified. This provides a transparent basis for understanding a product’s environmental impact and comparing alternatives, provided the declarations are based on comparable conditions.
EPDs make environmental information more structured and accessible throughout the value chain. It is not about giving a product a simple environmental label, but about making relevant data easier to understand and put to use.

Material development to meet new ELV requirements
The EU’s upcoming End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation (ELV-R) places greater emphasis on recycled plastic content in vehicles, while materials must continue to deliver the quality, performance and processability required for real-world production.
At Fakuma, we presented our latest material developments within ELV-R, building on materials with an established track record in the automotive industry. At Elmia Subcontractor, we look forward to continuing the conversation about how these materials can meet future requirements for recycled content while maintaining material performance.

Presentation: Materialsmart and EPDs
We have been working with life cycle assessments to calculate the environmental impact of our compounds for many years. Through our Materialsmart concept, we help customers identify material choices that reduce environmental impact without compromising technical properties. We can also provide certificates for our materials documenting their climate and environmental impact.
As we now take the next step by introducing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), what does this mean for material selection? How do you choose the right material when both performance and sustainability matter?
During the presentation, our new Sustainability Specialist, Anna Palminger, will explain how Materialsmart and EPDs can be used to reduce climate impact, create transparency and provide a better basis for decision-making when developing the products of tomorrow.
